A Short Story

Growing up in Kufstein (Austria), surrounded by impressive mountains, I developed a love for nature. The dark nights in the mountains made me want to know more about those twinkling stars. So I enrolled in Astronomy and Physics at the University of Innsbruck and received my Masters degree there. Still thirsty for more, in 2000 I went to Houston, TX to Rice University to start my PhD in Astrophysics. After a year of sniffing ivy university air, I got involved in a project on extrasolar planet formation and had to move to Los Alamos National Lab in New Mexico in 2001. Just before I finished my PhD, I met my wonderful wife and got married soon thereafter at the beautiful Rancho de Chimayo. Now, with four children and a bigger house, I am still in Los Alamos developing data assimilation methods for space weather applications. Who would have known ...


Well, here's my new website. I'm not really done yet. Especially the photography section still needs a lot of work. Let me know what you think (2006-07-03).
